                                mysql_select_db

   (PHP 3, PHP 4 )
   mysql_select_db -- Select a MySQL database

Description

   bool mysql_select_db ( string database_name [, resource
   link_identifier])

   Returns TRUE on success or FALSE on failure.

   mysql_select_db() sets the current active database on the server
   that's associated with the specified link identifier. If no link
   identifier is specified, the last opened link is assumed. If no link
   is open, the function will try to establish a link as if
   mysql_connect() was called without arguments, and use it.

   Every subsequent call to mysql_query() will be made on the active
   database.

   Example 1. mysql_select_db() example
   <?php
   $lnk = mysql_connect('localhost', 'mysql_user', 'mysql_password')
          or die('Not connected : ' . mysql_error());
   // make foo the current db
   mysql_select_db('foo', $lnk) or die ('Can\'t use foo : ' .
   mysql_error());
   ?>

   See also mysql_connect(), mysql_pconnect() and mysql_query().

   For downward compatibility mysql_selectdb() can also be used. This is
   deprecated however.
